When you replace plastic and rubber belts with metal belt


We hav been appealing metal belts for more than 30 years.
But we still find many people who are not familiar with metal belts.
This cannot be helped in a way.
 
However, those people suddenly face problems like trasport under heat, belt elongation, or viblatin of the transport surface.
Then metal belts emerge in ther mind.
We have many phone calls of those people in Japan and email questions from all over the world.
 
These calls and  emails are very important to us.
Becuase there are key engineering points when metal belts are introduced for the first time.
 
Here in Japan we lend conveyors like the picture below.

Why not upgrade by metal belts and metal belt conveyors? Mar. 19, 2018

In the daily inquiries, we often see customers who try the metal belt for the first time.
So, today I listed the general advantages of metal belts.

1) Low risk of contamination. Unlike plastic belts, metal belts make little dust and fray come out from its surface.
2) The metal belt features very flat and smooth surface.
3) The metal belt is heat resistant, corrosion resistant, and, wear resistant.   
4) The metal belt is sanitary, and suitable for a food conveyor. 
5) Elongation of metal belts is very limited, which contributes the high precision power transmission and transportation.

The applications of the metal belt are power transmission in robot arms, high precision intermittent /continues conveyors.
Recently, we also receive number of inquiries for the process systems developed from metal belt conveyors, such as vacuum conveyors and double belt press conveyors.
For the vacuum conveyors and double belt press conveyors, we have demonstration conveyors in our laboratory. trials and tests are available on these conveyors.
On our new double belt press demonstration conveyor (Double Press No.2), maximum pressure is up to 3000kgf, maximum temperature is up to 250 degrees Celsius on the belt surface, and the belts are 400mm wide.
Additionally, cooling process is available on our Double Press No.2 as well as heating.
The detail of Double Press No.2 will be uploaded on our website soon.

We provide a questionnaire to summarize the of the customers’ requirements.
We can provide design the belt and the strength calculation through the information on the questionnaire.

May 24, 2017 Property of Metal Belts

Metal belts have worked as solutions for unprecendented needs.
This is because metal belts own unique features as below:

1) Robust and hard
2) Rigid, not easily deformed nor elongate
3) High responsiveness.  Motor rotations and parts movements are precisely transferred.
4) Clean.  No lubicant is required for driving meal belts.  Dusts and dirt are quite limited.
5) Hygine.  Vacterials do not grow and smell of products are easily washed away.
6) Extremely flat.  Metal belt is a flat rotating stage due to belt engineering and flat metal material.
7) Extremely smooth surface.  Polished surface is also of your choice.
8) Heat resistive.  Available under heat of mor than 300 degrees.
9) Cold resist.  Metal belts rotates in 50 degrees C below zero.

Thickness of our steel metal belt

Dymco's steel metal belts are almost less than 1 mm thick.

Thickness 0.2mm and 0.3mm, they look very thin.
However, they are belt material.
In other words, they are tensile to stand repeated rotations.
We need a lot of force to bend 0.3mm -thick belt with our hands.

 
The picture below shows how the belt material bends by its own weight.
Thickness is , from the front, 0.05, 0.08, 0.1, 0.15, 0.2, and 0.3mm.

The front on is 0.05mm thick, thinner than human hair (0.07mm).
Yet it is spring type and looks arc.  This way steel metal belts are rigid.

Steel belt, metal belt and sleeves in printing machines

IGAS 2015 was held on Sep. 11 to 16 lst week at Tokyo Big Sight.
IGAS, International Graphic Arts Show is one of the four largest printing related shows in the world, together with drupa in Germany, PRINT in the USA, and IPEX in the UK.
Dymco's steel belts, metal belts and sleeves are employed in various types of printing machines.

Our seamless sleeves are working as fuser rolls in laser printer and cpiers. 
These sleeves are just 30 micron meters thick and seamless.  Due to this thin metal temperature of fusing rolles go up rapidly, which results in shorter standing time of printers.

                
And imaging process in ink jet printing or silk screen printing, our suction or vacuum belts convey paper and films right under the ink jet head and the screen plate.


In digital printing and offset, our sleeves have potential to make blancket roll surface.

The video above is a high-speed ink jet printing machine.  Metal belt holds post cards by vacuum and sends them right under the ink jet head.
