Continuous Inspection of Both Surfaces by Vacuum Conveyor
 
We receive many inquiries on continuous inspection on both surfaces of a transported work.
Actually more customers come to DYMCO from distant places
as they find our vacuum conveyor in our web site and get interested in it.
 
Their works are films, sheets, metal foils, glass etc. used for secondary batteries and electronic devices.
Expansion of IoT pushes those demands.




Rotary tables and single-axis robots may be choices when you inspect both surfaces.
But since they move back and forth, it is quite difficult to shorten cycle time.
Production lines also get complicated.
Why not trying our vacuum conveyor if you need to inspect both surfaces seamlessly in a simple form?

Remote Monitoring on Steel Belt Vacuum Conveyor 

In February this year, "Technical Show Yokohama 2020" was held at Pacifico Yokohama Exhibition Hall.
One of exhibitors, JSP Co., Ltd., introduced Dymco's suction conveyor.
The real suction conveyor was not in the booth, but in Dymco,  20 km away from this hall.

Before this exhibition JSP came to Dymco and set their remote communiction device upon our suction conveyor so that JSP can drive it in their booth.

JSP observed electric current by sensors.  Also the attched camera sent images how the conveyor was running.  They received all these info in their booth.

Especially they demonstrated an alarm function telling abnormal operation.

New coronavirus is getting serious here.
Although DYMCO is working as usual, schools are closed.
People's gatherings, events and business meetings are cancelled.
And now we know that virus inspection system is not sufficient here.
There are cases that people in need cannot apply inspection.
 
In the manufacturing industry, too, inspection is getting more important than ever to assure product quality.
Our metal belt conveyors are very good in 2 things when used for inspection.
 
1、Flat transport surface
Rigid metal belt convey things and yet serves flat transport surface.
Plastic and rubber belts cannot reach here.
 
2、Foils and films, very thin material is also transported in flat state.
Metal belt can hold air suction holes and realizes suction or vacuum transport.
Once film is placed on this belt, film does not move or fly away.
Its position on the belt is kept as it is and conveyed in flat state.
Tension is not applied either, so film is not stretched nor contracted.

For these reasons our customers adopt our metal belt conveyors for inspection.

Suction Transport Variations: plastic cups transport, incline transport, etc.

Our suction belt has tiny suction holes on metal belt surface.
Suction holes are all over the surface.
This is why you can transport objects at any spot on the belt,
you can make transport surface inclined, and
things does not fall even if inverted.
Plastic cups are suction-transported on the returning side.
Suction is working on both belt upper surface and returning surface.
Belt surface is inclined but papers are sucked and transported.
We accept our customer requests of suction transport tests ar Dymco.These tests and trials are done by the conveyor in pictures above.

We do measurements using micrometer, calipers, pi tapes and such.
These acts sustain quality of our steel belts.

On some belts of
perforated ones we perform hole pitch measurements on micron order by 2D image measuring machine of the picture below.

Last December we exhibited Highly-Functional FILM EXPO at Makuhari Messe.
We had chances to have good discussion with many visitors.
Every year overseas visitors are increasing, especially from China.
We could guess there active markets and technical needs there.

Is it difficult to convey thin functional films in flat state.
Visitors having such an issue watched and touched the belt surface of our suction conveyor.
We felt various need are coming up as films are getting more functional and the total process becomes complicated.

Also displayed were disposable version of seamless molds and Double Belt Heat Press Unit.
We wanted to show that very expensive pattern molds can be replaced with its replica and that two metal belts can sandwich films to laminate them or to cause special features by heating and pressing.

Vacuum Conveyor Application Video: Pulling in Film and Metal Foil / Tension Adjustment


We are focusing our sales on suction conveyor.

A conveyor, in general,  carry things.
In addition, suction conveyor can tow a continuous film, metal foil and metal strip under tension like in the video below.
In this test we applied tension by weight.
The degree of tension is adjusted easily by controlling suction.
Material is pulled without wrinkles and without vertical movement like the below.


In both sheet feeding and roll-to roll, films and metal foils are pulled on a belt by vacuum and those thin material stay flat on the belt.

SNS and email ads are popular, still we find direct mails in our posts.
Direct mails are made after printing different names and address on each mail.
This is what we call 'variable printing.' 
It is done by inkjet printing.  inkjet printing is written 'IJ' in short.
IJ automaticcally prints differrent info on each item.

IJ does not use plates, fixed info, like offset press or gravure printing. 

IJ prints data and data is variable.
This is why inkjet can print different names, QR codes, IDs on every card and envelop.
Multi-product small lot is exactly the very feature of inkjet printing 
in contrast to offset press and gravure printing that print the same data in volume.

Then what happens when you transport those cards and envelops fast enough in inkjet printing?

Due to wind pressure during transport,
corners and edges of these thin paper items may easily float, 
and they may deviate from the initial position.
These situations result in printing failure.

Landing positions of Picoliter-level ink drops are essential in inkjet printing.
This is same for IJ with UV inks.
Ink drops are shot aiming at certain X-Y positions.
But if their landing height is longer than aimed,
ink drops do not land at expected X-Y psitions, resulting poor images.

Our vacuum conveyor sucks thin cards and envelops and transport them right under the inkjet head. 

Landing height is kept minimum even for thin material like paper and films.
This high-speed and precise transport is essential for variable printing.

Sometimes it is difficult to export the whole suction conveyor overseas.
But we will make metal suction/ vacuum belts and give advise for designing the vacuum cocnveyor.
