Steel Belt and Tracking 9: Air source of Edge Positioning Control

0.5MPa of air pressure is required in minimum, while during operation it uses only around 50 ml/min. On air supply we do give you advise. We recommend a handy compressor when you do not find air supply utility. Or employment of a booster or increase of bore diameter may be adequate when pressure is not prepared to the full extent.

Steel Belt and Tracking 8: EPC / Edge Positioning Control

Edge positioning is controlled by difference in pressure supplied to these 2 cylinders.
When the belt goes straight, supplied pressure is constant.
On the other hand when the belt leans to either right or left direction, air cylinder pressure on the leaned side is increased by control circuit, moving the belt to the opposite side.

Air cylinders are required to be heat-resistive, anticorrosive, and others, depending on operating conditions.

Steel Belt and Tracking 7. EPC / Edge Positioning Control

These are cylinders in EPC systems. In general they are available in the market, not special parts. 2 cylinders are required in one conveyor. They are placed on both sides of the driven pulley shaft to move the shaft on the length direction for adequate tension.

Steel Belt and Tracking 6. EPC / Edge Positioning Control

Our EPC, Edge Positioning Control targets wide conveyor belts under heat and hot dry air.

The whole system is as shown in the picture.

Steel Belt and Tracking 5. EPC / Edge Positioning Control

Another tracking method is EPC. Belt position is watched by sensors.
When sensors find that the belt is out of track, pulley shaft is moved to adjust tension on both belt width edges.

EPC is especially important when the operating temperature is over 150 degrees.
In the room temperature crown pulleys are used. Up to 150degrees V-guide is available.
But V-guide does not stand heat over 150 degrees.

Steel Belt and Tracking: 4. V-guide

When V-guide is attached on a belt, we cannot apply much tension on the belt. We had better make belts as loose as possible. Also V-guide is made from rubber. Even silicon rubber stands 150 degrees C. These are tips for V-guide tracking.
