Hello again, this is Rhyce from Dymco Shanghai. In a chilly winter day with driving rain, US President Obama flied to Shanghai at the midnight of yesterday. Uh, I will keep my fingers crossed for the President a better weather during his first China visiting. This week let’s talk about pumice, Hess Pumice, which also comes from the US.

Pumice is composed of highly micro-vesicular glass pyroclastic with very thin, translucent bubble walls of extrusive igneous rock. Pumice is commonly pale in color. Pumice is a common product of explosive eruptions and commonly forms zones in upper parts of silicic lavas. Pumice has an average porosity of 90%, and initially floats on water.

Pumice is widely used to make lightweight concrete or insulative low-density breeze blocks. When used as an additive for cement, a fine-grained version of pumice called pozzolan is mixed with lime to form a light-weight, smooth, plaster-like concrete. This form of concrete was used as far back as Roman times.

In China, pumice is widely used in industry, such as eye glasses grinding and polishing, circuit board prep and polishing. Dymco Shanghai is the sole agency selling Hess Pumice in China. Steel Belt and Conveyor

Nihao, here’s Rhyce again, from Shanghai. This week let’s talk about conveyor which is widely applied in the industry. If someone mentions ‘belt’, the word ‘conveyor’ might pop up instantly if you are familiar with engineering.

A belt conveyor consists of two or more pulleys, with an endless loop of material, conveyor belt, rotating about them. One or both of the pulleys are powered, moving the belt and the material on the belt forward. The powered pulley is called the drive pulley while the unpowered pulley is called the idler.

Conveyors are used as components in automated distribution and it is considered a labor saving system with less labor expense. Belt conveyors are the most commonly used powered conveyors because they are the most versatile and the least expensive. Product is conveyed directly on the belt so both regular and irregular shaped objects, large or small, light and heavy, can be transported successfully. These conveyors should use only the highest quality premium belting products, which reduces belt stretch and results in less maintenance for tension adjustments.

Steel Belt Sales in China

I’m Minami of the steel belt company, Dymco. Needless to say, our main product is a steel belt.
Though there are various kinds of steel, it is stainless steels that our company handles.
Then, I will explain stainless steels briefly this time.

Stainless steels are the alloy steels that added the metal "Chrome" to "Iron" by 12% or more.
The principal ingredient is iron (Fe), carbon (C), chrome (Cr), and nickel (Ni). It is improved to prevent "Rust" that is the biggest weak point of iron, and it has a very excellent characteristic like durability, corrosion resistance, low-temperature characteristics, and the process ability, etc.

This stainless characteristic becomes the feature of our steel belt, and enables use under a special environment such as high temperatures and clean rooms.

The other day, our group company, Hess Pumice Products, Inc. that offers us the fine abrasive Pumice, came from the United States all the way.

It was the first time for me to meet them. They were very friendly and nice people. I hope we will keep good relationship continuously.
