The reuse of plastic waste to enhace the productivity of plastic products

Hello,
I am SAKUMA  from Dymco, Ltd.

We succeed in the test of forming plastic waste into sheets!
Nowadays, One of the enviromental issues called "microplastic" is causing the marine pollution leading the threat to ecosystem in the United States.
In the country,  the government comes out with a proposal that refrains from using plastic such as plastic strew in a coffee shop.
This proposal is now a huge issue and is about to affect the general public.
I believe Plastic manufacturers are in the situation where they are urging the development of eco-freindly plastic such as bioplastic.

Anyway,
The advantages of our stainless steel belts are "flatness" and "rigidity".
By using the advantages,  our stainless steel belt plays a role in a continuous forming mold to form plastic waste into thin sheets.
The first step is to heat a dozen of plastic waste that are crushed into pieces.
The next step is to sandwitch the object with our stainless belts.
And finally we succeed in this test.

Steel belts have three elements required for plastic molding and can realize continuous forming.
The three elements are as follows,
1. Heat
2. Pressure
3. Time

Since 2016, We have collaborated with professor Mr. Takahashi from college of Industrial technology, Nihon University.
As one of the uses of waste plastic, we are studying continuous heat press forming of plastic waste granules with our stainless steel belts.

The video below has the detail of the experiment.
If you have an interest in recycling or reusing waste plastic, please find out our Double press heating system.

Test 1.  Continuous heat press-forming of the plasitc waste granules with Double press conveyor

Test 2.  Continuous heat press-forming of the plasitc waste granules with Double press conveyor

The plastic waste piled up through the hand-craft vibration hopper are put into lower stage of the double belt (See the video, test 1.)

The conveyor heats and pressures the plastics so that they are melted down, and after that the platics are cooled down to be the form of a solid plate. Finally, the platics are released from the conveyor( See the video, test 2.)

The conditions of the test is as below,

Belt speed: 0.1 m/min
Temperture of heater: 300~350°C
(both upper one and bottome one)
Belt thickness: 0.3mm
Belt width: 150mm

The belts are being coated with fluororesin to enhance the surface releasing ability, preventing any object from being sticked when it is hot.  This is why you see the surface of belt in black.
The lower side of conveyor lenghth is longer than the upper side.  A hopper and stage is prepared for the space to set the object into the conveyor.
Pre-heating is not filmed in the video.

In the conveyor, pre-heating device is set on the stage between the hopper and the belt pressure zone.
